Lag Putt Distance Control Test

Mark your distances. Use a tape measure or step off 20, 40, and 60 feet from a single hole. Place a tee or coin at each starting position. Flat or mildly sloped green works best — avoid severely breaking putts for this test.

Mark your zones. At 20 ft and 40 ft, place 4 tees in a circle 3 feet around the hole (Good Zone) and 4 more tees at 6 feet (Buffer Zone). At 60 ft, use 5 feet for Good and 8 feet for Buffer. A string or chalk line works too.

Hit 5 putts from each distance. Start at 20 ft, then 40 ft, then 60 ft. Hit all 5 putts before moving on. No re-putts — first ball counts. Do not hole out; just evaluate where each putt stops.

Score each putt honestly. Inside Good Zone = 3 pts. Inside Buffer Zone = 1 pt. Outside both zones but past the hole = 0 pts. Short of the hole = −1 pt. Record in the app immediately after each round.
