You’re not alone.
Every golfer has that moment — you flush one, it feels perfect… but it comes up 15 yards short of what you think it should.
So what’s really going on?
After teaching over 7,000 lessons, I’ve found three main reasons golfers lose distance — and the best part?
You can fix them without changing your entire swing.
Most golfers simply don’t swing hard enough.
Tiger’s dad told him, “Swing as hard as you can, and balance.”
Find your personal limit, then back it off slightly to maintain balance. Use a simulator or radar to track gains.
Spray the clubface with athlete’s foot spray and see where you’re striking it.
Use an alignment stick or tee as an obstacle to train centered contact. The more centered you hit it, the more consistent your distances become.
If your handle is behind the ball or your face is open, you’re adding loft and killing efficiency.
Work on forward-leaning punch swings to train the correct loft at impact. Lower shots mean more ball speed and distance.
When you improve speed, contact, and loft, your distances go up — fast.
These three simple adjustments can add 10–20 yards to your game almost overnight.
